Accounting Manager EMEA

Position summary:

In this challenging role, you will be leading the Unilode Accounting team for the corresponding region, responsible for financial, management, statutory and tax reporting and business control environment.

Key elements of the role include:

Performance Management:

  • Financial control of eight legal entities, including all local statutory, tax and regulatory compliance
  • Leadership of the region through the monthly closing process including consolidation of regional results, intercompany reconciliation and variance analysis and reporting of drivers impacting the monthly results
  • Leadership of the accounting team, with a focus on development of employees, both in technical and personal skills, and the provision of a service-orientated finance approach
  • Leadership for the region through the Unilode group IFRS audit, including responding to all audit requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintenance of accounting records compliant with statutory and IFRS accounting policies, in line with group policies and procedures
  • Provision of regular and ad-hoc financial reporting to all areas of the business, ensuring deadlines are met (both internal and external) and output is of a consistently excellent quality
  • Provision of comprehensive broad compliance advice on financial, accounting, tax and other regulatory policies and issues
  • Coordination and management of the annual budget and rolling forecast process in close partnership with the regional MD and senior finance colleagues, ensuring a data-driven and robust approach reflecting the goals of the business
  • Oversight of the payroll processes to ensure internal and external compliance is maintained

Maintaining & Supporting Schedules for Financial Statements:

  • Fixed asset listing and depreciation schedule
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet GL accounts
  • Year-end VAT and other taxes

Daily/Weekly/Monthly Tasks:

  • Management of the finance team to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of accounting records across Americas entities
  • Working capital management of region driving quality and accuracy in accounts receivable, the timely collection of balances, accuracy of accounts payable and ensuring capital management allows the group to meet cash targets
  • Ensure robust application of controls and adherence to limits of authority and other financial policies and procedures
  • Support regional business and group finance on a variety of topics
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the inventory of the business, including inventory purchasing and accurate recognition of cost of goods sold via the P&L
  • Preparation of the regional weekly cash forecast, monitoring the cash outlook and accurately forecasting future cash movements
  • Provision of risk and opportunities; reporting and tracking of performance versus plans to ensure group finance are aware of significant drivers affecting financial performance
  • Minimise risk through the maintenance of detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all company assets and liabilities are correctly and fairly stated
  • Develop and implement improvements to internal processes ensuring control, integrity and efficiency of accounting records
  • Submission of all local and regional compliance documents such as VAT, tax filings and other financial matters, including compliance reporting to group
  • Ensure absolute reconciliation and balancing of intercompany finances with group partners; taking steps required to balance intercompany financials and maintain accurate records of transactions
  • Reconciliation of regional inventory and oversight of inventory process to ensure accurate recognition and appropriate focus on potential obsolescence of inventory

Location:

We have a strong preference for person assuming the role to be based in Europe, Zurich, Switzerland but could also be in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, MBA preferred
  • CPA, CFA or CMA certification preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years relevant accounting experience, including 3+ years specific experience in the role of Accounting Manager or similar
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including excellent MS Excel skills; e.g.: pivot tables, advanced referencing and the use of excel as a critical reporting or analytical tool
  • Strong knowledge of financial ERP systems, experience of SAP/SAPbyDesign, Tagetik and Basware Alusta strongly desirable
  • Strong financial controllership
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS principles, plus VAT/indirect taxes
